NEW MEMBERS FOR METHODISTS. The night service at the Methodist Church was an occasion with some special features. Two children, daughters of Mrs. Tison, were baptized and the four members of the family of J.E. Harvey were taken in by letter. Mr. Harvey joined the church at the Wednesday evening service which has become one of the best services of the church. Rev. Griffin is pastor. June 21, 1940
FOLKSTON GARDEN CLUB. The Garden Club met this week at the home of Mrs. C.S. Buchanan. The roll was answered by naming the Beauty Spots in Folkston. Hostesses were Mrs. H.J. Davis, Mrs. J.E. Harvey, Mrs. M.G. White and Mrs. Buchanan. March 12, 1943
BOOKS ARE BEING COLLECTED FOR SERVICE MEN. The Victory Book Campaign for the American Red Cross has begun to function. The request was for 3,400,000 books, but so far only 700,000 have been reported in hand. The chapters have been slow in naming their book chairman which is the main cause of the lack of books. Mrs. J.E. Harvey, local chairman of the book committee, will appreciate any books that can be spared from your library that will prove of interest to the boys at the front.

Beloved Folkston Lady Passed Sunday; Funeral Held Monday
Hearts of Folkston and surrounding communities were saddened Sunday morning when the news came that Mrs. J.E. Harvey, aged 60, had died about 6:30 of a heart attack at her home here. Mrs. Harvey had been as well as usual, and was about her general routine Saturday with no complaints, and her untimely death brought shock and sorrow to her family and friends. Sunday morning about 4:30, she placed her hand on her husbands face and told him she was real sick. He rose and summoned help and medical aid, but to no avail, as the death angel came about 6:30, taking her to her reward. Mrs. Harvey, a native of Ware County, came with her husband to Folkston 21 years ago, he being the telegraph operator for the ACL Railroad Company.
During the years here she was known as one of Folkston's beloved Christian women, always in the churches and elsewhere, rendering any service she possibly could to those sick in sprit and body. For years she taught the Intermediate Sunday School classes at the Methodist Church of which she was a faithful and loyal member until some months ago, when she became afilliated with the Philadelphia Free Will Baptist Church, near Folkston. of which she was a member at the time of her death. To know her was to love her, were the words of her acquaintances, especially those who had been a member of her Sunday School class throughout the years.
Besides her husband, J.E. Harvey, Sr., She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. H. Cason of Jacksonville; Mrs. W. G. Purdue, Kingsland; Five Sons, Leroy Harvey of Callahan; Tyson Harvey of St. Simons; Herbert Harvey, of Hilliard; Harry Harvey of Folkston; and J. E. Harvey,Jr. of Quitman; one brother Harry Bagley of Waycross. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3:30 at the local Methodist church with the Rev. F. J. Gilbert and Rev. John Graham officiating. The large and beautiful floral offering that embanked the church alter and casket, testified to the love and esteem in which she was held.
Internment was in the Folkston Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Messrs. O.E. Raynor, S.M. Altman, Sr., M. G. White, Ward Harrison, J. A. Prevatt and Charlie Altman. Adkins Funeral Home was in charge.
